Publisher Found for The Lord of the Rings - Gollum
Daedalic Entertainment's upcoming story-driven Lord of the Rings videogame tie-in has found a publisher: NACON. Announced back in 2019 and recently having been delayed to 2022, The Lord of the Rings - Gollum looks to place players in control of scraggly, driven-mad-by-the-ring Gollum (formerly Sméagol) as he uses stealth, cunning and deception to outmanoeuvre his foes.
The game takes place through a portion of the character's journey not featured elsewhere in Tolkien's fiction, "from his time as a slave below the Dark Tower to his stay with the Elves of Mirkwood." It will also give players a choice in how Gollum/Sméagol's split personality manifests. Will he be power-hungry, driven mad by the ring's influence as Gollum? Or will there be an element of lucidity, the remains of a once reasonable Sméagol?
The Lord of the Rings - Gollum will release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch and PC in 2022.
