PUBG Experimenting with 32-Player Matches in Season 10 Update
Season 10 of PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS is out now for PC and console, bringing a new map, a new AI-controlled faction to contend with, a new survivor pass, a new season of Ranked mode and more. Check out the season's launch trailer above.
The most notable addition of all with this update is, ironically, something that would have been par for the course in most other online shooters: small match sizes. The newest map, Haven—a derelict industrial town in the rust belt of America—has a player limit of 32. That's right, the game that made a name for itself with 100-player matches is experimenting with modest 32-player battles.
Of course, Haven (currently the only 32-player map) is expressly designed for such a small player count—well, small by PUBG standards—coming in at just one km² with dense environments made for small-scale skirmishes. Still, it should be interesting to see how the PUBG community responds to this new map.
Season 10 of PUBG is out now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC (as well as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S via backwards compatibility).
