Project Spark Ushers in New Era With Fully Free-to-Play Model
If you're a fan of Microsoft's game creation tool Project Spark then there are big changes afoot soon. Including the removal of microtransactions for the game, to turn it into what the team are calling a "free incubation engine". In other words, everything in the game will be free and there will be no more paying for assets one at a time.
Whilst this is great news for new creators, those who have put their hard earned cash into purchasing from the marketplace already may be wondering how this benefits them. Well there may be some good news for those people too as Microsoft are promising refunds for content bought in the last two months.
"[...]all players who have purchased Project Spark digital content on or after July 28, 2015, purchased and activated retail discs on or after July 28, 2015 or have a remainder balance of purchased in-game tokens will be entitled to Microsoft Store credit equivalent to their money spent. Microsoft Store credits will be awarded to all users within 30-60 days after October 5." - Xbox Wire
The move to F2P isn't the only thing that's exciting users though, there's a Bog environment, a host of new primitive shapes to play with and most importantly, Dragons are now a thing in Project Spark:
The changes and new content will be arriving on October 5th. Full details can be seen on the Project Spark forums
