PositronX Leaves Early Access
After two years in Early Access, rogue-lite first-person shooter PositronX is out now in its fully released form on Steam and GOG. Inspired by games like Quake 2 and Descent, developer Scorpius Games looks to support the resurgence of fast-paced retro shooters with its own permadeath, rogue-lite take on the genre. Check out the launch trailer above.
It's loud, bright and full of energy. PositronX may sound like a fake videogame from a late-90s TV show, but seeing it in action makes it clear that this couldn't have been done in the retro shooter heyday of Quake, Doom or even Unreal Tournament. With randomly generated levels; a variety of characters to choose from and upgradeable weapons to unlock; plus a suite of time and space-based powers to work with, there's a lot of variety in this shooter thrill ride.
PositronX is out now for PC via Steam and GOG.
