PlayStation 4 Not Getting Mods For Fallout 4 Or Skyrim
After Xbox One owners got official mod support in Fallout 4 way back in May, PlayStation 4 owners have been awaiting the update to hit their system too. That is sadly now not going to happen.
Bethesda made a statement on the official Bethesda site explaining why mods are no longer happening on Sony's platform. It seems Sony won't allow mods to be approved the same way that Microsoft do and Bethesda aren't happy with whatever compromises would have to be put in place.
Because of this both Fallout 4 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition won't be getting mod support until Sony change their stance.
The full statement follows:
After months of discussion with Sony, we regret to say that while we have long been ready to offer mod support on PlayStation 4, Sony has informed us they will not approve user mods the way they should work: where users can do anything they want for either Fallout 4 or Skyrim Special Edition.
Like you, we are disappointed by Sony’s decision given the considerable time and effort we have put into this project, and the amount of time our fans have waited for mod support to arrive. We consider this an important initiative and we hope to find other ways user mods can be available for our PlayStation audience. However, until Sony will allow us to offer proper mod support for PS4, that content for Fallout 4 and Skyrim on PlayStation 4 will not be available.
We will provide an update if and when this situation changes.

Sony: "No nude mods."
Bethesda: "Okay, but the paid system we're working on is alright?"
Sony: "No."
Bethesda: "We'll blame you guys for this."
Sony: "Kthxbai"

Definitely weird that they didn't have the specifics ironed out when they announced it. Really unfortunate state of affairs, I wonder what Sony's specific issues with the implementation were.
It's a string in Microsoft's bow that I'm sure they'll bring up at every opportunity, especially as the 28th of October approaches! :)

All the more reason to go Xbone line with the UHD Blu-ray player that people definitely won't want when its not as available as Blu-Ray when it got launched initially...

As crappy as this is for all involved, I'm glad Bethesda aren't offering a sub-par modding experience, just to get it on the platform.

Yeah absolutely, at least they haven't just caved and compromised what they wanted to do just to get it on there. As unfortunate as it is.
