PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Considering Action Against Fortnite
Not even a week has past since the announcement that Epic Games would be bringing a 100 player Battle Royale mode to its game Fortnite, and PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds developer Bluehole have made a statement.
The announcement of the new mode was met with some questions as the mode seems very similar to PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds in more than one way. Not only that but Epic Games reference PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds in their marketing material about the new Battle Royale mode. This has of course not gone down well with Bluehole from where Chang Han Kim, Bluehole Vice President and Executive Producer, made the following statement:
“We’ve had an ongoing relationship with Epic Games throughout PUBG’s development as they are the creators of UE4, the engine we licensed for the game, after listening to the growing feedback from our community and reviewing the gameplay for ourselves, we are concerned that Fortnite may be replicating the experience for which PUBG is known.”
“We have also noticed that Epic Games references PUBG in the promotion of Fortnite to their community and in communications with the press, this was never discussed with us and we don’t feel that it’s right.”
“The PUBG community has and continues to provide evidence of the many similarities as we contemplate further action.”
This is not the first game to add a Battle Royale mode following the success of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds as even GTA Online launched its own take on the genre but for Epic Games, it looks to be a carbon copy then a case of influence by another product.

Copying PUBG's concept? The way PUBG is almost identical to games like H1Z1: King of the Hill and many others before it?
What's next, Koushun Takami (author of Battle Royale) calling up cease & desists on game developers that have an arena combat theme in them??
