PlatinumGames Producer Expresses Interest in Self-Publishing Bayonetta
PlatinumGames has only just started taking on the self-publishing role with the recent Kickstarter for The Wonderful 101, yet it appears the company has an interest in furthering this endeavour.
Speaking with IGN Japan, PlatinumGames producer Atsushi Inaba also mentioned that he had a desire to self-publish the Bayonetta series of games. It should be clarified that this is just a desire however, and that this may never come to fruition. The rights to the series are currently split between SEGA and Nintendo after all, and Inaba notes that crowdfunding for Bayonetta would be a much larger financial investment if they were to go that route.
While the original Bayonetta has appeared on numerous platforms, and will soon be released on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, Bayonetta 2 has remained a Nintendo exclusive due to Nintendo funding the project. Bayonetta 3 is also planned to be a Nintendo exclusive, despite long enduring requests for the series to see a return to multiple platforms.
The original Bayonetta will be available on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on the 18th February, either as a standalone purchase or in a 10th anniversary bundle alongside Vanquish.
