PewDiePie revives Skate 3

Skate 3 is back, and it's all Felix's fault.

Electronic Arts has started pressing more disks of 3 year old game Skate 3 and it's all because PewDiePie has been playing it, a lot. On the back of this, his "bros" have been hassling GAME about buying the game.

This was a problem, it was out of print, pre-owned copies from the likes of CeX were all there were. So being able to spot an opportunity, GAME got to asking EA to press more disks, and they acquiesced.

As a result of this, the game has been in the top 40 all year and right now sits at number 20. MCV has reported that the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 game has sold 32.9 per cent more units for the first six months of this year compared with the first half of 2013.

Say what you like about PewDiePie's "aggressive stupidity" and "psycho babble." (as Andrew Wallenstein of Variety described his content.) but Flelix and the Bro army are making real changes to popularity of games. The YouTube phenomenon has flexed its muscles and this particular monster isn't just coming over the hill, it's sat in your favourite armchair wearing your slippers.
