People Can Fly Becomes Independent Again
Polish developers People Can Fly are back and now independent.
Although, the developers themselves haven't gone anywhere or reformed, but simply ownership has been given back to the team. They are longer Epic Games Poland, they are People Can Fly.
Originally formed in 2002, their first title was Painkiller and after a few sequels they were handed the duties of porting Epic Games massive hit Gears of War to PC - which at the time was a challenge to see how well it would turn out. After a successful release, they were acquired by Epic Games and were given their own game, which was the crazy action packed FPS - Bulletstorm.
They were fully acquired in 2012 and renamed Epic Games Poland, the acquisition saw the departure of founder and creative director Andrian Chmielarz; although he went on to form a new studio The Astronauts; who developed The Vanishing of Ethan Carter. Under Epic Games Poland they released their own gears game, Gears of War: Judgment.
After many years with Epic Games and co-developing the up-coming Fortnite. They've got their independence back as well as the Bulletstorm IP. The team will continue working with Epic Games on Fornite and will be using Epic's Unreal Engine 4 for an unannounced game.
