PC Gaming Show 2023: Mariachi Legends

Mariachi Legends, a 2D action title developed by Halberd Studios and Freedom Games that blends Mexican and Japanese themes, debuted during the PC Gaming Showcase 2023 via a cryptic reveal trailer. The trailer offers a glimpse at both the story and gameplay of the upcoming indie title.

It starts with a female voice speaking to a detective named Pablo Cruz about how their powers are a gift that must be used sooner rather than later. It's revealed that this voice belongs to Lady Death, who seems to know more about the state of affairs Pablo is trapped in than she's letting on. The art style here is reminiscent of classics like Castlevania or Metroid but with its own flair and spin. 

Before long, a scene is shown of Pablo transforming into La Sombra, a masked warrior who wields a sword and seems capable of doing away with even the most intimidating of threats. He proves as much when he's shown quickly slaughtering two enemies at once, their blood splashing across the wall in the blink of an eye. Mariachi Legends is currently in development and can be wish-listed on Steam.
