Palia is Coming to Steam and FAQ
The cosy MMO developed by Singularity 6 Corporation is finally making its way to Steam after being out on Open Beta via their own individual client and the Epic Games Store shortly thereafter. After it captured the hearts of many cosy gamers around the world and received continuous love and support, the team announced the Steam release is coming soon, a release many have been waiting for.
Palia made its debut to the gaming world on the 10th of August 2023, after many closed playtests, Alpha tests, and community feedback, its Open Beta was released with a lot of support and love. The highly anticipated title has received a lot of backing since then via updates by Singularity 6 Corporation, giving the world of Palia much more to do. From the controversial Maji Market to Halloween- and Christmas-themed events, it's grown far beyond its original roots.
The official Steam release is yet to be fully announced — in a tweet made on the 20th of December on the X account @playPalia, the team shared the news with one screenshot and a link directly to the Steam store page. From there, we can see that the expected release date is sometime in 2024; there isn't a closer window of release, so whether this will be early or late throughout the year is yet still to be announced.
This comes after the release of the game on the Nintendo Switch store on the 14th of December and the Epic Games Store version on the 24th of October; given the timelines, speculation suggests we might see it in the first half of the year, considering Palia's been rapidly releasing everywhere. This begs the question for many gamers, however — will you need to restart your account?
The short and sweet of it is no: every Palia account is ready for cross-progression. As evidenced by the aforementioned releases, you'll only have to download the launcher via your chosen client (in this case, Steam) and boot it; from there, your game should be entirely playable from your original account.
The Steam Deck compatibility is still yet to be announced, and many Palians are wondering about its release due to the Nintendo Switch being a tad broken. Those who have installed Windows on their Valve device have already confirmed it has worked great, which bodes well for its handheld compatibility, but as soon as we have more information about it, we'll share it as well.
Palia is going to remain free for its Steam release, too, as the game has been so popular over every platform it's released. So you can expect to pick it up and add it to 2024's Steam Year in Review when it releases sometime in the future.
