Overwatch League 2019 Will Change the Format
Blizzard has now officially revealed details about the format for the upcoming 2019 Overwatch League. 20 teams will play 28 matches over four five-week stages held at the Blizzard Arena in Los Angeles, with the eight expansion franchises being split between the two existing divisions. Paris, Toronto, Washington D.C. and Atlanta are joining the Atlantic Division, while Vancouver, Chengdu, Guangzhou and Hangzhou are joining the Pacific Division.
The division winners and the next top four teams will qualify for the playoffs, along with two more teams based on the results of a play-in tournament. During the season, teams will play a maximum of two matches a week, with longer breaks included in the schedule. More details about the schedule, including tickets and full game schedules, will be announced later this year. The 2019 OWL season begins on Thursday, 14th of February 2019.
