Origin Users Being Charged for Games They Are Not Buying

A PSA has gone up on the /r/Origin subreddit warning users that purchases are being made to some accounts that are not legitimate.

Accounts with payment details saved are being used by third parties to purchase games, sometimes without a receipt even being emailed to the account holder.

Origin have stated that they have found no leak of usernames and passwords, however back in November the hacker group Derptrolling claimed to have "more" username and password combinations, after posting thousands of PSN, 2K and Windows Live online.

The best thing to do is check your recent purchases on Origin. If you have no payment information stored your money should be fine, but you should still enable the two-part authentication. It is not on by default.

To enable it, which will send you an email or text message when a new browser tries to log into your Origin account, then either click this link or go into your profile and click Security. Under Login Verification click Turn On and follow the steps, after which it will look like this:

Nothing here, enabled 2FA though, usually have it enabled for any account that supports it, didn't realise Origin did.
