Origin Sneaking SecuROM in with The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection

So, although we urged you to grab The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection while it is free on Origin, that may not have been a great idea for those who have something to hide.

Reclaim Your Game has found the most recent version of SecuROM, Version 07.40.0009, has been bundled with the game, which might explain the extended loading time upon first opening the game that has been talked about. It was designed as an anti-piracy tool by Sony - which is a good thing. However, it does not uninstall when you remove the game.

SecuROM will not harm your computer in any way, but it will be running in the background constantly monitoring your software and using precious RAM. This, along with it being difficult to remove and throwing up false positives for piracy attempts has it labeled as spyware by opponents.
