Opening Cinematic Released for MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries
The next entry in the Piranha Games' MechWarrior series, MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries, is set to release later this month. In the run-up to its launch, the game's opening cinematic has been released, setting the scene of the year 3015's 'Succession Wars' and the resulting tensions between humanity's major factions, known as 'houses'. Give it a look at the top of this page.
MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries is an action-focused mech simulator with four-player co-op support and destructible environments. As well as fighting on the battlefield with their brothers and sisters-in-arms, players will manage their own mercenary company and maintain a fleet of BattleMechs.
As the game's name suggests, players' status as a 'scrappy' mercenary means they're free to take missions from any of the game's houses. This adds a tactical element to taking on contracts, as the needs of the mercenary company may determine which missions are undertaken next. Perhaps the rewards of a particular mission are lucrative enough to justify putting significant numbers of troops at risk; as the company's leader, the choice is up to the player.
MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries will launch on 10th December for £39.99.
