ONE PIECE ODYSSEY Announcement Trailer Revealed

As part of One Piece's 25th anniversary celebrations, Bandai Namco has announced a brand new game based on the series. ONE PIECE ODYSSEY is an RPG with turn-based combat that will feature a brand new and original story guided by series creator Eiichiro Oda. Developed by ILCA INC, it's set to release later this year; in 2022, it will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Now that I've talked about that, what can you look forward to about this original story? After a storm at sea, the Straw Hat crew are separated and end up on a mysterious island filled with uniquely designed monsters (designed with Oda's cooperation). Still, their ship, The Thousand Sunny, is broken. Left on this island, the crew do what they do best: go and explore the island and interact with the locals as they work to repair their ship. What trouble will Luffy and the others get into? With the appearance of Marine Vice-Admiral Smoker and the Gorosei in the trailer, it probably won't be anything that the World Government approves of.

The trailer finishes with an ominous message: "This point in history should have never happened." As a fan of One Piece's history, I'm curious to see how ONE PIECE ODYSSEY will explore this.
