Oculus Rift Pre-Orders Opening Today
Over 3 years after launching one of the most successful Kickstarter campaigns of all time, the Oculus Rift is finally ready for it's full commercial launch. Backers will be receiving a free headset but those of us that didn't back the campaign can still be in line to get one of the first units as pre-orders open up later today.
You'll be able to get a chance to reserve your unit as of 8AM Pacific Time (16.00 in the UK). There's no word on price yet, but Oculus have previously hinted that an Oculus and a computer should cost about $1500 so take away the cost of a GTX970 based machine (the minimum spec according to Nvidia) so our bet is in the region of $500 which would mean that somewhere between £300 and £400 would be a safe bet.
We reported a few days ago that you'll be able to get mascot platformer Lucky's Tale as a free game. This is alongside the previously announced EVE: Valkyrie which will be coming in the box as well. Each device comes with a Wireless Xbox One controller but the Oculus Touch controllers designed specifically for the Rift have been delayed until later in 2016 to give Oculus more time to perfect them.
