Nvidia Announce New Flagship GPU
With the announcement of the Pascal architecture, it was only a matter of time before we saw a new GPU from the hardware giant. Well that announcement has been made with the first unveiling of the GTX 1080. With twice the RAM, running at a higher speed along with a faster clock and more boost power, this is a serious GPU with a lot of grunt behind it. Claiming more than double the performance for VR, Nvidia is hoping that this will be the GPU of choice for gamers going forward in the game way the 980 is currently the number one.
The new card boasts 2560 CUDA cores, a base clock of 1607Mhz, rising to 1733MHz in boost mode and a standard memory config of 8GB GDDR5X running at 10 Gbps. The card is also the first to support a new standard of SLI, dubbed the "SLI HB Bridge", which doubles the bandwidth between cards in an SLI setup.
