Nosgoth Cancelled
It was only a few weeks ago that we were talking about the impending release of Nosgoth here on this very website. The game, Psyonix's take on the Legacy of Kain universe in MMO form, was nearly three years in Early Access and the developer was expecting a release in the first half of 2016. Instead, the game has been cancelled. Visitors to the official website for the game are now presented with the following sad pop-up message.
The game just didn't attract enough fans to make it a sustainable venture, causing publisher Square Enix to pull the plug just a few weeks before the expected launch. What this means for the Legacy of Kain series isn't clear. This is the second game though to be cancelled, a bitter blow for fans after Legacy of Kain: Dead Sun was cancelled back in 2012 (which we talked about last year).
Players who purchased in-game currency or items since the first of March will be getting automatic refunds soon, and everyone who purchased the definitive pack will be getting a refund on Steam in mid-April. After all the refunds are processed, the game will go offline for the last time at the end of May.
