Newest Path of Exile Expansion Revealed
A new expansion was recently launched for Path of Exile, Grinding Gear's popular ARPG on Steam. The expansion, called Path of Exile: Incursion, is expected to launch on June 1 on Steam, with a XBox One release scheduled the following week.
Grinding Gear has the following to say about the expansion:
"The ancient Vaal treasure temple of Atzoatl has been lost to the world for thousands of years, swallowed up by the jungle. Alva Valai, a relic hunter, has learned that she can locate the ruins of the temple by thrusting you back into the past, through a series of Temporal Incursions into the temple while it was being constructed. Path of Exile: Incursion examines the effects of temporal causality by allowing you to change the future of the temple through your actions in the past. During your Temporal Incursions, you can open doors and slay Vaal Architects, modifying and upgrading rooms in the future. Be careful with the direction that you modify the temple though, as upgraded rooms confer great risks alongside their great rewards."
The expansion is set to follow the Incursion League as they search for the ancient Vaal temple Atzoatl. Players will have to go back in time to discover the location of the temple, as well as unlock its secrets by changing history. Players will unlock new skills, new Vaal-themed gems, and, of course, new items along the way.
Two supporter packs will be available at different price points and will include in-game points, titles, and new aesthetic features. But as always, Grinding Gear promises that Incursion, like the rest of Path of Exile, will be free to play, not "pay to win."
Path of Exile has achieved a great amount of success across its two platforms with "very positive" reviews on Steam, and Grinding Gear reported 13 million players having enjoyed the game since its October 2013 release. The game's previous expansion, Path of Exile: The Fall of Orianth, launched on last year, and received commendations not only for its gameplay, but also for its continued updates and support.
