New Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Talks Gameplay Modes and More — Everything You Need to Know of the Gameplay Trailer
The third-person action shooter where you take control of the epic Space Marines is coming soon — armed as the superhuman and brutal race, you'll fight for the Imperium throughout a slew of game modes and even a campaign! A brand-new and lengthy gameplay trailer gives us a closer look at what we can expect gameplay-wise; if you want to watch the trailer for yourself, find it linked above this news article!
The first thing touched on in the trailer is the epic narrative that you'll be partaking in: play solo or with up to three other players in a four-player co-op. Taking place 100 years after the events of the first, you'll take control of the now-demoted Lieutenant Titus as he embarks on a distant journey to prove his loyalty and earn his spot once again — fight the Tyranids and engage in all-out galactic warfare.
Return to the Battle Barge — the headquarters for the Ultramarines — to review your next mission and prepare for the upcoming battles. It'll span across many different planets, and rendered within the game are hundreds of enemies at once, giving you an immersive and grim look at the war that you'll partake in. From Avarax to Demerium, you'll need to prepare your loadout to fight against the terrifying foe, utilising your preferred armaments to take into combat — from melee variations to long-range ones, the choice is in your hands.
The second thing that was touched on is the Operations mode, which is a cooperative gameplay mode where you'll create your very own Ultramarine to head into battle. Pick from six different classes, prepare for new quests, and fight alongside others to complete your objective at all costs.
The customisation goes as far as letting you choose your classes, your armour, and even how it looks — you'll need to find a varied mix between all of these with your co-op teammates to ensure victory on the battlefield. The more you play, the more things you unlock, and the cosmetics will be able to reflect your veterancy in the field, alongside getting a slew of class perks, armaments, and more at the Battle Barge.
And finally, the last game mode we got a look at is the Eternal War, where you'll embark in a PvP mode against other players. Choose your preferred ruleset — from death matches to conquering areas in the Warhammer-inspired maps — and fight against six different players in all-out warfare to secure victory for your faction. As you play through the game, you earn experience and unlock new weapons to take into the battlefield — the more you play, the more options you have to crush enemy marines.
This video was narrated by the Creative Director, Oliver Hollis-Leick, and it gave us a great look at what's to come. Furthermore, however, is the plans to keep Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 fresh with regular free content updates to many of these modes. Embark on new operations, find new maps in PvP, new weapons, new enemies, and so much more — and better yet, it'll be part of the official Season Pass, which will feature no further microtransactions or in-game cash shop.
You can start on this epic adventure when the game releases on the 9th of September, though those who pre-order the Gold Edition or higher will be able to start the game four days early on the 5th of September.
