New Super Mario Maker 2 Details Revealed In Recent Direct
In the lead-up to the launch of Super Mario Maker 2, Nintendo released a 15 minute Direct presentation detailing a number of new features in the game. These additions include new tools, course themes and even a story mode.
As seen in the announcement trailer during the February Direct, Super Mario Maker 2 will include the heavily requested Slopes that were absent from the first game. Other new tools include the Angry Sun Enemy type first seen in Super Mario Bros. 3, the Snake Block, an On/Off Switch which can be used for multiple different purposes, Seesaw’s, and a momentum based Swinging Claw.
More features are also being added which give more options for the types of challenges that can be created. Water levels and Scrolling levels can be created with different properties, such as the height that the water rises to and the speed in which the screen scrolls. Custom sound effects can also be added to levels, giving them an even more distinct sense of individuality.
Super Mario Maker 2 also sees the introduction of a story mode, in which players are tasked with completing various levels to help rebuild Princess Peach’s castle. The story mode features over 100 unique courses created by Nintendo, and can be used as a way to introduce new players to all of the different tools that are found in the game.
As with the previous title, other player’s custom made courses can be accessed online, however an Nintendo Online subscription will be necessary. Extra search features allow players to make more specific searches to find the type of content they want to play, and these courses can be played in co-op with up to four players. Two players can also create new levels together, with each player using a single Joy-Con to craft different parts of the level.
Super Mario Maker 2 is releasing on the 28th June, 2019 exclusively for Nintendo Switch.

This looks pretty good, but I'm just not creative enough to make it work well.
