New Nintendo 3DS & 3DS XL
Coming to Japan 11th October, everywhere else next year, are two new 3DS handheld consoles. Titled: New Nintendo 3DS and New Nintendo 3DS XL!
Not very imaginative, but it gets the point across.
The first title to be released on this will be a port of the Wii title Xenoblade Chronicles. This and other titles won't be compatible with the 3DS or 2DS, as they will make use of the brand new buttons:
ZL, ZR and the C-Stick. These sound familiar if you ever used a Gamecube controller.
As well as the new additions and the repositioning of the stylus and game card slot, it will also boast:
- Better graphics
- Better battery life
- Faster CPU
- Faster WiFi
- Built-in NFC (as shown with the Amiibo figures)
- You will be able to transfer media to and from your computer
- Swappable cover plates
- Support for Micro-SD cards - with swappable front and back covers
The New 3DS will be 6.6mm taller and 0.6mm wide, as well as 18g heavier than the 3DS.
The New 3DS XL will be 0.5mm taller and 4mm wider, yet 7g lighter than the 3DS XL.
They will cost ¥16,000 and ¥18,800 respectively, with the covers costing ¥1,000 each. That means the New 3DS will cost under £100 and the New 3DS XL just over. Of course those prices won't translate literally...
But we look forward to this none the less.
