New Itch.io App Allows Offline Play
Itch, the desktop application for indie digital storefront itch.io, has had a major overhaul. The app was designed to make it easier to find and install games, similar to GOG’s Galaxy or Valve’s Steam. It never quite functioned how the creators wanted though, with many actions just loading up pages of the itch.io website instead of being integrated in the app itself.
The new version does away with many of the criticisms levelled at the previous apps. It integrates a browser, meaning that content won’t be pushed out of the app into your browser. There’s also a new storefront, meaning that you can browse all available games instead of being restricted to searching for games you already knew the name of.
Arguably the biggest feature though is the ability to download browser based games for offline play. Meaning if you want to play that awesome web game on the train in the middle of nowhere via your laptop, you now can! Checkout itch.io’s site for more details on their new app.
