Monster Hunter World: Iceborne - PC Release Date Revealed
Keyboard and mouse wielding monster slayers rejoice! A 9th January release date has been revealed for the PC version of Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, the mammoth sized expansion to 2018's Monster Hunter World.
Continuing from the events of the original title, hunters will journey onwards to the icy and expansive region of Hoarfrost Reach. This new land brings with it an array of changes, additions and overhauls. All 14 weapon types have been expanded to allow for more combat options, a new "Clutch Claw" mechanic adds yet more depth to encounters, smaller animals can be ridden for transportation and a brutally challenging "Master Rank" promises to bring even the most hardened hunters out in a sweat.
In addition to this, coop play has been given more attention. Enemies will be balanced more sensibly when two players are of a different skill level and a new "Hunter Helper" feature will encourage skilled players to assist their less equipped or knowledgable comrades. For a series like Monster Hunter which is infamous for its inaccessibility, features like this will be crucial to developing the foothold the franchise has gained in the west with the original Monster Hunter World.
It wouldn't be a fully-fledged PC release without a suite of graphical options and enhancements, and Capcom don't disappoint. Fully customisable graphics options, DirectX 12 support and a high resolution texture pack ensure that - with the right rig - Iceborne will look stunning on PC.
Just as with the main title, free content updates keep the game fresh and relevant on both PC and console. Initially the PC will receive updates seperately from console, but they will converge eventually. February and March are the planned months for the PC's first two content updates.
Monster Hunter World: Iceborne is out now for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It will be released on 9th January for PC.
Monster Hunter World will be required to play this expansion.
