Monster Hunter World E3 Trailer
Sony Entertainment has unveiled the next iteration of the popular RPG series Monster Hunter as part of its lineup for early 2018.
Judging by the announcement trailer, this installment will incorporate the environment as a key part of gameplay as players hunt down wild and fantastic beasts. For instance, earlier in the video we see some sort of tracking mechanic that allows the player to locate wildlife by firing a strange green goo from slingshots and following where its trail leads.
Once the target monster is actually found, the player will be able to use camouflage to hide from the beast's sense of smell and sight. It is then that we get a taste of Monster Hunter World's new combat system, which seems to involve the player clambering onto the monster's back in a style outwardly similar to Dragon's Dogma and slashing at it with weapons. Should the player be thrown off, the trailer reveals a new grappling hook tool that can be used to quickly recover as well as traverse the richly-detailed jungle environment.
After the initial fight with the monster, the trailer also shows the paler character fleeing through cramped spaces and thick vines so as to impede and damage its pursuer, all before leading it directly into the path of another huge creature so it can make the kill for them.
