Mojang shutting down Scrolls
Scrolls is the other lesser known game from Mojang, creators of Minecraft. Scrolls is a collectable/strategy card game, which has been released since December last year, but now it has been confirmed that the game will be no longer worked on.
Announced on the official site, the last content patch will be Echoes and after this the game will be no longer worked on. The reason? The team can no longer sustain continuous development. However, it doesn't mean that the servers will be shut down immediately. Mojang has stated that the game will be kept open and running till July 2016 and will be still available for purchase with all proceeds used to keep the game open for as long as possible.
In a thank you to all the fans Mojang had this to say:
We’ve had a great time working on Scrolls, and appreciate every last player who’s downloaded our game. Extra big thanks to the most dedicated members of our community; some of you have logged in almost every day since release and dedicated a large portion of your time to dominating the leaderboards and taking care of new players. We salute you, honourable scrolldiers.
Scrolls had a troubled start with its Bethesda lawsuit back in 2012 over the name Scrolls, which Bethasda claimed would cause confusion with their Elder Scrolls franchise, fortunately after settlement and eventual release it was met with praise. It's Just a shame that the life of the game didn't last more than a year (excluding alpha/beta testing).
