Microsoft Bringing Clubs and Looking For Group to Xbox One

Xbox One owners will be gaining some community tools to help find people to play with as well as organise groups when the next big Xbox One update hits later in the year. Larry Hryb (aka Major Nelson) and Scott Henson from the Xbox Engineering Team detail these in this new video.

First up, Clubs will allow you to create public or private groups that people can search for and join. You can specify the type of club it is using tags, e.g. whether it's competitive, casual, mic only etc. These tags can also be searched upon.

The other big feature that is coming is the Looking For Group (or LFG) functionality, much like in an MMO, this feature lets you put out a request stating what you are wanting to do and how many people you need. For example, if you want to gain a specific multiplayer achievement which needs four other players, or even just that you want to play game X.

These features will be headed out to members of the Xbox One Preview program starting today and are intended to also come to Xbox App users on Windows 10. They'll roll out to everyone as part of the next big Xbox One update later this year.
