Metal Gear Solid Re-Releases Leaked
A selection of classic Konami titles have been rated for PC by The Taiwan Digital Games Rating Committee, alluding to their imminent releases on the platform. Most notably, the rating suggests that Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance look to be on the horizon, however the original Metal Gear and 2002's Konami Collector's Series: Castlevania and Contra will likely be joining them too.
While the two titles, Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid 2, did receive PC ports in 2000 and 2002 respectively, there is currently no way for the average PC owner to legally acquire and play the titles on modern hardware. While it's not believed that these re-releases will be significant remakes, they will at least preserve the game for modern and future players.
This news comes alongside rumours that a full Metal Gear Solid remake (in the vein of Capcom's Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes) is in the works for PlayStation 5 and PC. These rumours trace back to Resetera user Potterson, a reputable leaker who accurately predicted the aforementioned PC re-releases earlier this week.
Konami has made no official announcements regarding this news. Stay tuned for future announcements.
