MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries Coming Exclusively To The Epic Games Store December 10th

Developer Piranha Games today announced that MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries, the classic series’ first single player campaign-focused entry in more than 17 years, will now arrive on 10th December exclusively on the Epic Games store. Players who have pre-ordered the game will be able to run practice missions in November via a closed beta ahead of the game’s full launch.

Although this means having to wait a little while longer for the title, executive producer Russ Bullock assured fans that “our new partnership with Epic Games store allows us the time and ability to accomplish our goals both in the games development and marketing efforts” meaning the developer can deliver on their promises like "true freedom of choice" and the ability to play in co-op.

Fans looking to obtain refunds from their pre-order of any tier are able to do so by September 1st., however refunded pre-orders will be unable to participate in the upcoming closed beta scheduled for November as well as lose the exclusive MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries DLC items.

So it could have come to Steam but they would have had to miss out on the promised "true freedom of choice", so they're not coming to Steam and missing out the promised Steam release.

Honestly, me and Pucechan predicted this back in February, as the game had been crowdfunded and still had no Steam page, it was clear that they were going to try and get as much pre-release money as possible.

Sad times, but companies do like those monies...

I didn't wanna say anything too cynical in the article itself, but yeah, I can't say believe that it was a decision based on designing the best game possible...
