Marvel Puzzle Quest Update will Remove Dark Reign Subtitle

Along with this trailer revealed during San Diego Comic-Con, Demiurge Studios have announced the removal of the 'Dark Reign' subtitle from Marvel Puzzle Quest.

The F2P match-three game has been using the Dark Reign storyline for it's main quest, where players can gather new characters to use as well as health packs, Iso-8 and hero coins.

They have also been running weekly stories which revolved around the same plot - Norman Osborn has formed HAMMER to replace SHIELD, along with his Dark Avengers - super villains dressed like super heroes. They are gathering Iso-8 (a mysterious substance of alien origin) to power themselves up, which you - as many of Marvel's heroes - must stop them from doing.

That is due to change with the update hitting 1st August. There will be monthly updates which will give new storylines as the game explores more corners of the Marvel universe. The game isn't set in any particular universe, given that Nick Fury and Norman Osborn are from the Ultimate comics, Captain Marvel is Carol Danvers and Sentry is alive.

Also new in the update will be Team-Ups, where you can select a character to join you in combat. This will join boosts in adding some strategy to your battles.

The final announcement they gave was that a long-awaited character will be making his debut in the event Deadpool vs Marvel Puzzle Quest. We'll go ahead and break the fourth-wall - the character is the merc-with-a-mouth Deadpool!

Of course there are more characters that are frequently requested, so we hope to see some of the X-Men added, rather than the one X-Man in the form of Wolverine.
