Marvel Contest of Champions Announcement Trailer

Although using the Contest of Champions name, it doesn't seem to have anything to do with the two events from Marvel's comic book past. But the storyline is still unknown. It is, however, being written by Sam Humprhies, who has a lot of experience with Marvel characters, having recently penned Uncanny X-Force (Vol. 2) and Avengers A.I. He is currently writing The Legendary Star-Lord, based on the Guardians of the Galaxy character.

Pitting two Marvel characters against one another in a fight to the KO is something that has proven record of working recently, although it hasn't always worked too well in the past. Injustice: Gods Among Us has worked much better than, say, Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects.

Marvel's Contest of Champions is being developed by Kabam Games, whose previous titles are F2P games such as The Godfather: Five Families and Edgeworld. It will feature Iron Man, Spider-Man, Captain America, The Vision, The Hulk, Thor, Black Bolt, Juggernaut, Daredevil, Black Panther, Cyclops and Storm - as well as everyone's favourite anti-hero Deadpool (Editor: Bias!).

It will pit hero against hero, hero against villain, husband against wife and surely many more combinations. Okay, ex-husband against ex-wife... Black Panther married Storm of the X-Men a few years ago. It didn't end well...

There is no release date for when it will arrive on iOS and Android.
