Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash Coming to Wii U
Since the '70s and the first home video games consoles, developers have been trying to craft the perfect tennis simulator. The early days of pong paved the way for more advanced and realistic simulators like Wii Sports and Virtua Tennis 2009. All the same, the perfect lifelike simulation of tennis has forever eluded us and the perfect computerised tennis game has yet to be crafted. Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash is not that game.
Featuring crazy power ups that fill the screen with light, over the top shots that spark and shine with various lighting effects and tonnes of special shots that do crazy things to the ball, Mario Tennis is to the aforementioned racquet sport what Mario Kart is to racing. It's a bombastic, over the top and above all fun approach to an otherwise serious sports pastime and this seventh instalment in the series is set to be no exception.
The game was announced at E3 but little has been revealed until now. Nintendo have placed a trailer, a screenshot gallery and a release date on their website. The trailer and screenshots show off some of the new features of the game such as the new jump shot technique and the mega mushroom which grows your character in size. The game, which will be a Wii U exclusive, will be released on 20th November 2015 with a US MSRP of $49.99
