Mario Kart 8 New Characters and Weapons Trailer

When the trailer starts off on Mario, there doesn't seem to be anything to set it aside from the previous iterations. Drive a kart, win the race. But it soon shows you that won't be as easy as dodging shells and banana skins.

With new small characters such as Shy Guy on motorbikes, there looks to be a little more skill involved this time around. The appearance of Baby Peach hints that the other Mario Babies will appear, along with the Koopa Kids and mushroom folk! The choice will no longer be as simple as "Should I choose Donkey Kong or Bowser?"

New weapons are shown in force, including the boomerang and Piranha Plants, yet another indication that the old tricks no longer work. Get a red shell all you like - you still might get hit by a boomerang.

Mario Kart 8 is released 30th May for Wii U.
