League of Legends Shows Off 2025 Season 1 With New Fortiche-styled Cinematic and New Song
League of Legends is following the recent trend of resetting (to an extent) by bringing back a new form of Season 1. Riot Games is skipping out on Season 15 to start anew, with Season 1 Act 1, which will have different Acts throughout the year and give players new and refreshed gameplay more commonly, a shift from their annual update schedule they used to follow.
We've known for a while that the first season would take place in Noxus, and some of the updates have already been present in the PBE for players to enjoy, but this is the first cinematic look at things moving forward. Animated by Fortiche, it gives players the opportunity to take a glimpse at what a League of Legends show set in Noxus could look like, as players get the first-ever look at Darius, Katarina, LeBlanc, Vladimir, Elise, and even Trundle, with a gritty and realistic battle between Noxus and Freljord that gave viewers in the comments chills. As the same studio that animated the hit Netflix show Arcane, and the fact that we get to see Mel Medarda as part of the cinematic, this is the closest we've gotten to seeing the launch of the Noxus show, which we know is already in progress thanks to Christian Linke, the co-creator of Arcane.
The trailer is purely animated, but it does tease the possibility of Mel Medarda joining the Rift just after her mother, Ambessa Medarda, debuted just prior. This isn't directly confirmed, but she's placed alongside other famed Noxians throughout the cinematic, all of which are playable Champions, giving a big indicator that she'll be joining alongside her newfound powers from the second season.
The cinematic is definitely worth checking out for fans of the numerous Riot Games departments — from Fortiche's signature animation style to Riot Games' music and narrative, it's a look at the latest Runeterra lore. This does leave fans pondering, however: with Blood, Sweat & Tears, Heavy Is the Crown, and now Bite Marks being animated by Fortiche, will most future projects be working in tangent with the animation studio? We'll have to wait to find out.
In the meantime, you can enjoy League of Legends Season 1 Act 1 as of the 8th of January, and we wait for more information regarding future Runeterra-focused shows.
