League of Legends Championship Holds 27 Million Viewers
The 2014 League of Legends World Championship supposedly had 27 million people watch the final games of the two teams: Samsung Galaxy White and Star Horn Royal. Although the number in 2013 was 32 million, showing a downfall in peak viewers, however, the amount of peak continued viewers was over the amount in 2013.
In 2013, the amount of people who watched simultaneously was 8.7 million with an average viewing time of 42 minutes, whereas, the amount of simultaneous viewers grew to 11.2 million with an average viewing time of 67 minutes in 2014.
Riot released a statement regarding the loyalty from the fans:
"It’s awesome to see fans enjoying Worlds as a community, whether it’s with 40,000 friends cheering together in Sangam Stadium, or as a group staying up late at a local viewing party halfway across the world, - We’re honored by your passion and participation. Thank you for tuning in."
The amount of people that showed up to watch the show live was over double the amount of people who visited last year, which was in a 20,000-seated Staples Center in Los Angeles.
The upcoming 2015 championship will reportedly be released "in the coming weeks," says Riot Games.
