Layoffs Hit Codemasters

Layoffs Hit Codemasters

Layoffs are to hit F1 and Dirt developer Codemasters with 50 jobs being currently reviewed. Out of all the jobs 30 are to be laid off as part of of a 30 day consultation period with designers and artists being the most likely to be let go.

The developer is currently working on an F1 entry for PS4 and Xbox One and also a new entry for the Dirt series. The F1 entry is safe, however, the new Dirt entry may not release when it is planned. The team developing it has also been reduced in size with under 20 staff members currently working on the game.

The developer had this to say about the layoffs:

"As Codemasters continues its programme of strategic realignment in line with market changes, the company has reviewed its current structures to focus on areas of increased importance and decrease resources in areas where work requirements have been reduced,"

If there were a developer I'd most want to work for, it would be Codemasters. Because they have an office 20 minutes away from me...
