Korean Border Guarded By Microsoft's Kinect
North Korea and South Korea are separated by the most heavily armed border on Earth and according to news site Hankooki it is patrolled by the Kinect.
South Korean programmer Jae Kwan Ko is said to have developed a Kinect-based software system to monitor the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), which separates the two countries. According to sources the system identifies objects crossing the DMZ and can identify them as either human or animal. If the system detects a human it will alert the nearby outpost.
The idea is so crazy even its designer never thought it possible.
I've never even thought of a game system performing national defense tasks

Despite its unconventional nature the Kinect was deployed at the border last August, although its existence wasn't made public until recently.
