Kickstarter Success: Fear Effect Sedna

Kickstarter Success: Fear Effect Sedna

You may have seen us report on the new Fear Effect game a few weeks ago here on GameGrin. At the time, Sushee were seeking funding to re-ignite the classic PS1 game for a modern audience. We’re pleased to report that the funding has now been secured, meaning that we should see the game arrive in the spring of 2017. The new title will be coming to the PC, PS4 and PS1 after they sourced €107,285 from 2542 backers.

The title has been supported by original publisher Square Enix as part of their “collective” program, which sees the Japanese publisher assist smaller artists with their games. The new title is set 11 years after the events of the PS1 game, and features a story in which Hana accepts a small mission for a shadowy organization asking for her services. Her target: a mysterious ancient statuette held by the ambassador of China in France. She sees it as a good opportunity to visit her birthplace. However, seemingly easy mission leads Hana to something bigger than expected. Meanwhile Glas is approached by a client who catches his attention and piques his interest, enough that Glas sets out for Greenland.

If you were one of the backers who pledged €60 or higher for Fear Effect Sedna, then you will also get exclusive access to a preview demo of the game. This is planned for October this year as a thank you to these backers for their extra support of the game. At the time of writing, it is still possible to increase your pledge to gain access to the demo when it becomes available.

In a statement on their campaign page, Sushee said:
“Be sure that we’re really happy with all what you did for us, for all your support & kind words, this means everything & every penny counts. And you’ll get as much news as possible on the game development!

We’re all full of energy, boosted by this really good news, and ready to make a great Fear Effect Sedna!”
