Kanye West Hates Microtransactions

Kanye West, the controversial hip hop star, is once again making waves for the wrong reasons. It happens so regularly that it's almost not even news any more. This time he's taken to Twitter to condemn microtransactions. 

Fuck any game company that puts in-app purchases on kids games!!!

Talking specifically about mobile games with in-app purchases, he is clearly not happy. And it's not that it's a bad point. A lot of games rely heavily on in-app purchases, and it's like a cancer on the games industry. Unfortunately, it's even making its way onto home consoles and games that cost full retail price.

That makes no sense!!! We give the iPad to our child and every 5 minutes there's a new purchase!!!

Yeah Kanye, you tell 'em! But wait, doesn't your wife have a mobile game? I'm pretty sure she does. And does said game not offer in-app purchases, and make a ton of money from them?

If a game is made for a 2 year old, just allow them to have fun and give the parents a break for Christ sake.

Last year, according to Forbes, Kim Kardashian: Hollywood raked in an obscene amount of money, and reportedly Kim gets $85 million of that. So does her husband really have any right to speak out against in-app purchases?

Many have already pointed out the irony in Kanye's rant, but whether or not he cares is a different matter. There's a chance he knew full well, and decided that it was a great way to get some attention. It's hard to tell if he's genuinely as stupid as he seems, or if he's a marketing genius. Whatever the case, Mr. West, you've done it again.
