Joe Dever’s Lone Wolf Comes to Consoles
Back in the ‘80s, gamebooks were all the rage. These novels, usually based in fantasy universes, saw players choosing their own adventure by making choices throughout the book which influence how the tale progresses. One of the most popular of this style of book is the Lone Wolf series by Joe Dever.
Italian developer Forge Replay created a new episodic tale for the series as an Android and iOS game back in 2014. This proved to be a hit, gaining critical support and winning the 2014 Drago d’Oro awards for Best Italian Videogame and Best Game Design. The game has now been ported to current-gen consoles to complement the mobile versions already available.
Gamebook fans will be pleased to know that this original adventure takes place in between the third and fourth books of the series and sees the titular Lone Wolf, last of the Kai Lords, exploring the remote mountain village of Rockstarn, which has been unreachable for some time. Could the village have fallen into the hands of unknown enemies? What perils are lurking in the shadow? What allies will help you? You have four chapters to find out!
Published by 505 Games, the title is available digitally as we speak. You can get it from the PlayStation Store and the Xbox One Store at a price of £10.99/€14.99/$14.99. PS4 fans of the series can also buy avatar pictures featuring the game’s characters, or pick up a free home theme.
