Indigogo Takes Action against Vega Plus Creators
After recently having been successfully sued, Vega+, a crowdfunded gaming console, has had action taken against it by its hosting platform, Indiegogo.
This action came in the form of a blog post and confirmation that steps were being taken to repair monetary damages sustained by members of the public who were generous enough to give funds to the Vega+ project, which failed to fulfill some basic requirements to remain on the site in spite of having an extension to a deadline. All the website asked was that the Vega+ consoles be delivered to the people who'd purchased them. They weren't.
As of now, Indiegogo is still leaving room for the folks behind the project to make up for these difficult setbacks, but the crowdfunding firm is also going out of its way to contact collections agencies to acquire refunds for backers.

It's such a shame to see the exploitation of nostalgia like this. It's looking like the "Atari" VCS is likely to go the same way too :(

I'm glad that Indiegogo are taking it to them and trying to get the backers their money returned. However, this will inevitably damage future projects of a similar nature as people won't have the level of trust required to put money behind new projects.

Because it's classed as a private investment, there's little to no regulation on crowd-funding sites. People should be aware of the risks in investing in a business, but it's never really clear enough from the marketing. It's probably an area where some regulation needs to be implemented like stocks and shares where there has to be a prominent warning that you may lose your money.
