How to Participate on Steam's Beta Client
Valve is constantly updating their client to include new ways to evolve the service they provide. While it had been semi-stagnant for a while, it seems that the team has gone full throttle on new releases, new features, and new things for the users to test out, and it has been received with quite a lot of success. Most of the best features come to Steam weeks after they've been part of the Steam Beta, but if you want to partake in them right away, you have the opportunity to do so; and the best part is that it isn't a chance to enter but guaranteed!
Starting your adventure through Steam's Beta is relatively simple, and to make it even easier to follow, I've outlined the steps to follow in a bullet-point list so you can follow step-by-step! Here's what you'll need to do:
- Click the Steam option on the top-right of your client to open the drop-down menu
- Select Settings
- On the right side, below the Steam Settings tabs, go to the sixth tab — Interface
- Here, you'll find the Client Beta Participation as the third option. Yours should say "No beta chosen" if you've never participated in a beta (which, if you're reading this, you probably haven't!)
- Click the drop-down menu and select the relevant beta.
Once you've followed this simple five-step guide, you should be prompted to restart your client! Once you do, the new changes should be reflected in their relevant areas — for instance, for the Game Recording beta (the one that's available at the time of writing), the options were part of the Steam Settings in "Game Recording"!
