Honeymancer Is Coming to Steam’s Early Access; Learn All About It!

Lukas Lundin recently announced on Steam that their upcoming RPG with wave-based combat, Honeymancer, will be released in Early Access!

Before we talk about what we can expect from Early Access, here's a quick summary of what the game offers:

  • Beekeeping.
  • Gardening.
  • Save the forest.
  • Fight off evil, invading robots.
  • Honey- and bee-themed spells.
  • Neighbours to befriend.

Why Early Access?

The game has already been in development for over two years, though the developer feels there's still a lot to do, and they'd like the community to be able to offer feedback! As Honeymancer is being developed solo (with help from the developer's friends), they feel the support from players will be invaluable.

How Long Will Honeymancer Be In Early Access?

The plan is to have the game in Early Access for about a year, and although nothing is set in stone, the developer mentions they'd like to see it released sooner rather than later.

Throughout the Early Access period, they plan on releasing updates fairly frequently that will focus on everything from bug fixes to large content updates.

How Will the Full Release Differ From Early Access?

While the core of the Honeymancer is already set, the developer hopes to expand on every aspect of the game — this means adding new areas, new neighbours, more quests, flowers, potions, spells, robots, and even environmental hazards.

On top of that, their idea is to add spell upgrading, decoration, an interactive bee system, and even bosses. However, none of it is guaranteed until the players offer their feedback.

What Will Be Available in Early Access?

While the core gameplay mechanics are already implemented, and players can experience the full gameloop, there's a lot that the developer has in store.

At the moment, this is what Honeymancer has to offer:

  • The Bear Witch's home.
  • Neighbours' homes.
  • Six animal neighbours, each with their quests and dialogue.
  • Three different parts of the forest, each with three zones to protect.
  • Honey- and bee-themed spells.
  • A slew of flower types to decorate the forest with.
  • Three different types of potions.
  • A companion — a big, round bee — named Bumble Dog who helps protect the forest.

Will the Game's Price Change?

The plan is a small price increase when the game releases.

How Will the Community Be Involved in the Early Access Development?

The community will be involved in nearly every part of the development, and the developer will be gathering their feedback and suggestions through the Honeymance Discord, the Steam Discussions, and social media. For members who offer a lot of feedback, there might be private betas and direct influence on the future of the game.

Make sure to get Honeymancer when it comes out to Early Access on the 27th of March! Watch the trailer for a closer look.
