Hawken is Shutting Down on PC
Free-to-play mech shooter Hawken is to be removed from Steam on 2nd January, 2018 with its PC servers shutting down as well.
The rather sad news was announced over on the Hawken Facebook page to which many fans have expressed their sadness at the news.
"After 3 great years, we are shutting down the PC Steam servers to refocus our development efforts. The PC game will officially be removed on January 2, 2018, and all DLC and purchasable content will also be unavailable starting today.
It’s been an incredibly rewarding experience working alongside such a dedicated PC player base. Your feedback and support has been invaluable to us, and the team looks forward to creating more great games based on what we’ve learned from you."
Though there is no word on if the console version of the game will also be shutting down it is of course a concern for many players. Only released back in 2014 the game has had a rough development with slow updates and mixed community feedback. None the less it is a shame to hear of any game shutting down for good, and so the departure of Hawken will be remembered.
Hawken is still available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One but their future remains unclear.
