Halloween DLC And Free Update Come To Prison Architect
Prison Architect publisher, Paradox Interactive, and developer, Double Eleven, have released Halloween-themed DLC for their game known simply as: Undead. The brand new and spooky, eighth expansion for Prison Architect introduces survival to the prison management sim. The dead are rising from their graves and can infect anyone they bite, so inmates and guards must now band together to make it out alive. These zombies are a restless bunch and can spread quickly through your prison population.
Gaz Wright, Game Director on Prison Architect at Double Eleven, had this to say, “Just in time for the spooky season, Undead adds a mix of survival and horror to Prison Architect that will put Wardens’ management skills to the test. Grappling with the task of survival is no easy feat, as it introduces an extra layer of complexity and pressure to management gameplay. We hope our community will enjoy Undead just as much as we enjoyed creating it!”
Key Features
- Adding a “Graveyard Quick Room” adds a spooky flair to your compound; this new Quick Room does satisfy your inmates’ needs for Freedom and Comfort, making them feel calmer for 12 hours, but be ready to deal with the undead hordes it can spawn, once you add gravestones.
- In Undead the dead can appear in a number of different ways to attack the player. An inmate can get sick, some others can be bitten by an unfriendly undead, or a bunch of infected inmates can simply spawn directly from the Graveyard. Wardens have no power over these infected units, they will move and act independently in the prison until stopped. Inmates and guards can try and fight them off, but if they fail, they will join the deadly hordes!
- When things inevitably go south and your prison can’t hold off the outbreak, call the Bounty Hunter Emergency Service. Tough, trained bounty hunters will join your fight against the undead. Whether you call in help from bounty hunters or make use of everything at your disposal as a weapon, do whatever it takes to keep your inmates alive.
- Desperate times call for desperate measures, and there is a slew of useful new traps, techniques, and weapons now available. Use undead chum to lure the zombies, build a walled-off area and lock them inside, or steal that glorious chainsaw you’ve been eyeing for a while; everything is allowed to fight off the horde.
- Undead also introduces the “Undead Overlay” option in settings, which lets players add an extra layer of darkness and suspense to the already creepy DLC.
Launching alongside the Undead expansion is The Kickstand, a free update available to all players. This update brings a range of additions and improvements to the game. Two new dogs, Corgis, and Siberian Huskies arrive for some cuddly fun, and three quickrooms expand your prisons: Security, Kennel, and Parole. Additionally, cameras can now be locked and monitors can be made a priority for guards. Courtesy of community feedback, we’ve also added a new empty room that players can use to separate prisons into different sectors without the need to wall them off.
Both the Undead DLC and The Kickstand update are out now on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
