Hakuoki SSL ~Sweet School Life~ to Receive an Official English Version on the Nintendo Switch

The Hakuoki franchise has always had a bit of a turbulent time with the English translations arriving. For instance, over on Valve's launcher for PC, Steam, the franchise comprises of two entries: Hakuoki: Edo Blossoms and Hakuoki: Kyoto Winds. Yet, one of the most highly requested entries hadn't managed to get an official localisation... until now.

Hakuoki SSL ~Sweet School Life~ sees players take control of Chizuru Yukimura (a character fans of the franchise will recognise due to her prominence as the protagonist) in a brand-new Hakuoki setting. Though, unlike the Edo Japan version, which has players fall in love with the legendary warriors of Shinsengumi, players will instead enjoy the cast in a modern setting: school students in Japan.

The localisation for this title has been a long-time requested entry, with the original launch on the PS Vita dating back to March 27 2014 (nearly 11 years ago). It's been a long-time coming for die-hard fans of the Hakuoki franchise, hoping to be able to experience it through the unique setting outside of the usual old-school Japanese one that fans have come to know.

This is coming exclusively as a Nintendo Switch release sometime in late 2025. Players can pick up physical copies with the retail partner Playasia later on this week, with also 2,000 Limited Editions available, including a slew of other items available on the 10th of April.
