Got £260 to Spare for a 'Rehydrated' SpongeBob Game?
SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated, the remaster of the cult classic 3D platformer is out 23rd June for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Switch. In the run-up to its release, THQ Nordic and Purple Lamp have unveiled two special editions of the game to release for all platforms. Shockingly, the priciest of the two is set to retail at a whopping £259.99.
This high-end special edition, titled the F.U.N Edition, includes the game (for the price, you'd hope so), a series of 7" and 8" figurines, stickers, a keyring set, lithograph set and a 'replica' pair of SpongeBob's tennis socks. Quite how this £259.99 asking price is justified is, frankly, beyond me. It seems that the game's resurgence in popularity among devoted speedrunners is being leveraged for an inordinate profit. It may be a good licensed platformer, but I'd be unwilling to spend too much time around the SpongeBob superfan who'd blow such a hefty wad of cash on this.
The remaster itself, in addition to updating the visuals and upping the resolution, will reintroduce previously cut content into the game and include a multiplayer horde mode. Ignoring the outlandishly expensive special edition, Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated looks to be remaster done with care and good intentions.
If you're curious to get a glimpse of exactly what's included, check out the live-action trailer for the F.U.N Edition above.
Pre-orders for SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated open up on 21st April. The game releases 23rd June for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Switch.

This is misleading, you're talking about the special edition being £260-ish but say in the title that you NEED $260-ish.

I think you're taking the headline a bit too seriously.

Don't worry JewelSlasher. There's no misleading here: the special edition IS £260. That's Pounds... Okay, maybe it's £259.99, but what difference does a penny make?

But it is misleading, you're talking about the special edition in the title like it's the normal game costing £260 yet the normal game Not special edition is only £25.

I don't believe there would be anybody who would read the title and think it was referring to the price of the standard edition.
