GOG Galaxy Reaches For The Stars, Leaves Beta
GOG Galaxy has been in beta for a while now, the optional client enabled ease of access to your GOG.com game library and a way to chat with friends along with multiplayer in supported titles.that eases game down
The newest update, version 1.2, takes the client out of beta and adds a whole slew of new features, the biggest of which is arguably what they are calling Universal Cloud Saves. This, as the name suggests, brings automatic game save backup and syncing to games both old and new. This feature adheres to GOG's philosophy of the client being optional as you are free to download your saves at any time from your account.
In addition to cloud-saving, there is also a new in-game overlay allowing chat and viewing of notifications and achievements. A lot of quality of life features have also been added that bring the client in line with services like Steam and Origin, game time tracking, client notifications for friends coming and going, update scheduling and an FPS counter round out the offering.
The new update is currently in preview testing now and will roll out to everyone sometime in April. You can grab the GOG Galaxy client from their site, here.

I reached out to GOG and, in theory, this paves the way to being able to swap save games with people.

Just having easy access to game saves is a great help. Older games especially were notorious for sticking them all over the place, knowing that you can grab them out of the aether as a backup or to easily pass it to someone else will be really handy.
