Get Ready to Open the Pandora's Box of the Paranormal - Hermitage: Strange Case Files is Out Now

Hermitage: Strange Case Files is out now in the West after its hit reception in China. Published by Giiku Games and made by Arrowiz, players are invited to set foot in a paranormal horror adventure which blends Japanese folklore and superstitious tales from Southeast Asia.

This is a visual novel that takes place in the eponymous bookshop, Hermitage. Standing on a lonely corner and home to a bizarre collection of books, this is not like any other bookshop. The contents within offer more than simple stories for its clientele.

Take on the role of Hermitage: Strange Case Files' protagonist, the owner of said titular bookshop. At one time he was an anthropology professor but as the new owner of Hermitage, he has never been seen outside of his work. Yet something changes when a new customer steps in. As they look into a book of ancient texts and rituals, he queries about the reasons of their interest. The customer, plagued by lucid and realistic dreams is haunted by them and wants to discover the meaning.

The lines between fantasy and reality begin to blur as he delves into an investigation into paranormal activities that begin to occur. But this is only the beginning, as you are joined by a hacker genius, a self-proclaimed detective, and a short-tempered legal consultant in deciphering the horrific incidents occurring around them.

If you're interested in multi-layered stories, then this may just be the game for you. As the protagonist, your choices can lead you to a variety of storylines. The more you investigate, you will uncover clues through TV, forums, phone messages and emails. Interviews can be conducted with different characters, where knowing their personality becomes a major help to the investigation, and as you do so, discover their secrets hidden within their backstories. As you use this information to your advantage, you can match this intel with your suspicions to uncover the truth behind the disturbing goings-on in Hermitage: Strange Case Files.

Hermitage: Strange Case Files is now available on Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.
